The Show scene, obedience or whatever else is on in 2009! November 09 Tua has been vet confirmed in whelp to Sovereign (Degel Sovereign Leader) puppies expected 31 December 09! October 09 Tua is in season and she will be mated to a lovely black dog Degel Sovereign Leader Hips 1:1, Elbows 0:0, PRA clear. Sovereign has a great temperament and has been a boy who is being noticed around the ring. Amanda, his owner has her 7 year old handle him in the ring and he is a true gentleman. Tua of course is gentle and loving and I am confident the pups will be absolute treasures as far as temperament is concerned. Tua is hips scored 5:6, Elbows 0:0, PRA clear by parentage and I just got her EIC results and Tua is EIC clear. Puppies expected early January 2010. August 09 Well we went ot Tullamore - and got a 1st and a third - long day - horrible weather. We will concentrate on obedience a bit more I think. Since we only go to dog shows occassionally attending the occassionalo show reminds me of why I don't go dog showing very often. I am not desensitised to the hystrionics and conspiracy theories that people indulge in at the shows enough to enjoy them. Apart from that the gilrs ran well and behaved well so we were happy.
The pups are settling well into their new homes, we are going to hit the show ring with Tua and Lara this month - so that should be amusing since we havent beein in the ring for 6 months. July 7 2009 Young Tapua Cerberus (Andy) has gone to the Guide Dogs of NSW - good luck in your future career Andy. Matilda is in her home in Sydney with Aussie farm for Kids and Abbey is happily ensconsed with the Mcfarlane family. May 22 2009 We welcome to Tapua Kennels the beautiful 5 month old Pattie (Garlendra Patty) she is settling in well and Picture are on our Website.
May 16 2009 3 beautifull Labby pups born this morning - 1 boy and 2 girls - all pups spoken for. The boy Cerberus is going to the Guide Dogs NSW, Nirimba (Matilda) is going to Aussie Farms and Kimbla is staying here.
April 2009 16 April - Tua is vet confirmed as in whelp - pups due 15 May! Sydney Royal 2009 - Dixies daughter CH Goodwill Foreplay takes out BOB Kelpie, the RUBOB was Dixies grand-daughter. Conrats to Bebbie and Steve Ablert on their fantastic win. The kennels are completed and the garage is up, Tua is 4 weeks in whelp and starting to show - so all is looking great for puppies in May. MARCH 2009 Tua was mated to Sinvale Billy the Kid (Yugioh) 11 March 09 puppies eagerly anticipated mid May 09. FEBRUARY 2009 Well Lara has hit the ring at Oberon with her firts show - she trippy trapped around the ring, kissed the judge and chased the moths in the grass. She was having lots of fun!!! Lara also won Baby of Breed. On the obedience side of things - she knows sit, stand, come and she will retrieve a dumb-bell. I am hoping she will be ready for CCD by August 09! January 2009 We hope to be mating to Tua sometime in the next couple of months - the propossed sire is the very handsome yellow Ch Sinvale Billy The Kid HD 0:0 ED 0:0 current eye certificate. A picture of Yugioh is on our website. 19 January - Lara is here finally!! Well the year has started well - Lara puppy arrives on the 19 January, we pick her up from the Guide Dogs NSW at Glossodia and also get to spend the day there going over their complex. The kennels that I thought were happening last year are starting next week - eh better late than never! The beautiful Tua Tahi will be mated some time this month by the look of things so sometime in March the pitter patter of little Labs will be heard. And its hot - well I guess you have to expect that since its summer - but just to whinge again its hot! - the furry kids spend most their time under the fans looking hot!

DECEMBER 08 Lots of news our baby lab Invergowrie Lara , or just Lara is now 3 weeks old. We have purchased the block next door and construction on the kennels are all happening. So it will be a busy month! OCTOBER 2008 Well we recieved our tickets for the cruise andwe are gettng very excited. The plans have been OK'd for the building of the garage and the kennels. Pete is off and about with the motor bike so the boy-toy is going well and I get my indulgence a well designed and ventilated kennels and a new pup - due to be whelped in November. Lifes good at he moment. Entering a show in Orange in November for once - what a novelty! Then that will probably be it for 2008. SEPTEMBER 2008: We are happy to announce that a beautiful Labrador Retiever baby from Invergowrie Kennels in the New Engalnd will be joining us in the new year. Invergowrie Kennels are owned by Professor Lesley Levins who is a retired geneticist and lecturer at UNE, Lab breeder and consultant for the Guide Dogs of NSW. Both the sire and dam have exceptional temperaments and the sire is a proven producer of guide dogs. The dam is a maiden bitch. Both dogs are hip/elbow and PRA tested. Well the Kelpie Club of NSW Show is over for 08 and congratulations to Debbie & Steve Albert with Ch Goodwill Downunder (Nifti) - they won both Best in Show and Challenge Bitch/Minor in Show with Nifti's daughter. Nifti's dam is CH Mimbil Burnt Offering (Dixie) - the couch potato was quietly satisfied that her kid did so well! AUGUST 2008 ZAC, MIMBIL ANZAC COVE, WON RESERVE CHALLENGE DOG & PUPPY OF BREED: congrats ZAC and Lee-Anne!!! JULY 2008 CROFTIE HAS HIS COMPANION DOG TITLE - he blitzed the ring with a score of 196 ... what a boy!!!!!!! Onward to CDX and Tua will be trialing in CCD soon I hope! Also Tua Tahi's hips/elbows scores are in. Hips 5:6 Elbows 0:0 Tua is PRA clear by parentage and will be bred in late 2008/early 09. JUNE 2008 Our K9 Spine Bed has won the MDBA Pet Product for 2007 Award May 2008 Katya hip scores are back she was hips 2:1 and elbows 0:0, Ruby's hips were 1:1 and elbows 0:0, Mandy and I are extreemely pleased with the results. Still waiting on Tua's hip scores. News from Grafton, Harry's 4th litter is due later this month, it is Harry's second litter for Mandy. Also on the weekend Mandy took Katya and Ruby to Brisbane to have hips and elbows x-rayed. All look well for low scores. On the weekend I took Tua the Lab for her hip/elbow Xrays and she too looks set for low scores. Both Katya and Tua will be bred near the end of the year. April 2008 As a member of the MDBA I am accountable for the general health and genetic soundness of my dogs and their progeny which come from my kennel. With this in mind I had the autopsy of the death of one of my bitches in Sweden reviewed in January 2008. As a responsible breeder with a commitment to excellence I take my responsibility for soundness in temperament and type very seriously and at any hint that there may be any possibility of unsoundness I will investigate the matter openly and ethically. The bitch in question was Mimbil Little Vixen who passed away in 2005 due to a systemic and cerebral infection. The autopsy completed in April 2005 have since been re-assessed by the Swedish Veterinary Medical Board (small animals) which confirmed that 1) The bitch died of a Cerebreal & Systemic Chronic Infection 2) There was no evidence of any genetic abnormality 3) They confirmed the hypothesis that the bacteria transmitted in the serum of the Borella Tick is probable cause but due to time delay they could not confirm this catagorically. MARCH 2008 March 14/15 Lee-Ann & Zac ( Mimbil ANZAC COVE) wins Baby in Group three days in a row all under Japanese judges - - woo hoo whata pair!!! Its pretty cool for a Blue to win a class in group with competition. Well Mimbil Kennels is officially a business and we are producing the K9 Spine Bed - designed to support the spine and hips of dogs, never to sag, and un-chewable this bed will last a dogs life-time - in fact it will last several dogs life times and yous and mine as well!!. We were tired of replacing jute bags that sag, bed frames that break and we wanted the dogs off the ground where they sleep. Elevating a dog off the groud helps to reduct fleas, worms and the more supportive the bed the better for their hips and backs. For larger breeds it is very important and also for puppies and the oldies with arthritis or joint problems. Lets face it when you are tired don't you want a decent place to rest? Our guys when they are young tend to be chewers so we place a fitted carpet or conveyor belting within the frame but as they get older and more sensible the standard 1m x 700 foam mattress works well and is comfortable. FEBRUARY 2008 Much to our delight our website has been nominated for an award through the MDBA as well as our beds we wish to humbly thank the people who nominated us for the II MDBA Dog Owners Chioce Award - The Best Dog Related Website and the Best Pet Owners Product for 2007. JANUARY 2008 Well the New Year came and went, I slept through the 'party' as per usual. I also worked throughout Xmas/New year. Little has happened this month, Harry appears to be contributing to the gene pool overseas and sperm is being sent to Europe, Katya will be heading back into the ring soon and I am working on the wonder Lab Tua Tahi who is entered in a show at the end of February. The two blue boys are entering the ring one on the 2nd Feb and the other at the end of feb so that is exciting. They both have the fuglies at the moment but that is OK finished off pups rarely go anywhere later. I have added a section on my website under 'Planned Litters and Health' about Cerebellar Abiotrophy (CA). It is am increasing problem and one which requires attention. According to Dr Wilton there reasonable chance of finding the marker this year sometime. Pauline Gill & Peter Levett Woodstock, NSW, Australia Phone : (02) 6345 0027 Email : tapua@bigpond.com |
